Local People is not designed to force the same answer on every community. We set clear standards for representation, then give local candidates and local people the freedom to focus on their area.

A Local People MP puts the constituency before a party machine, a second job or a political career.
They remain independent enough to use their judgement, but accountable enough to explain every important decision to the people they represent.
Being an MP is the job
Local People MPs commit to Parliament and their constituency as their main or only employment.
Accessible throughout the year
Regular surgeries, public meetings, local visits and clear ways for residents and businesses to make contact.
No party whip
MPs consider evidence, their judgement and the views of local people. They are not ordered how to vote by party headquarters.
Open decisions
Important votes and positions should be explained in plain English, including why the MP reached that decision.
Local manifestos
Each candidate develops clear priorities for their own constituency with local residents, organisations and businesses.

Housing pressures in one area may be completely different from those in another.
Every Local People candidate will publish a constituency manifesto shaped by local evidence and conversations. This can cover health access, schools, jobs, transport, crime, housing, disability, caring, business and any issue that matters locally.
Local priorities will be visible on each candidate's constituency page.
